Jupiler: Liège

Liège was the former capital of an independent principality for eight centuries. Now it’s the metropolis architectural and cultural wealth. Liège counts 17 museums, a lot of churches and manor houses. Featuring a large series of theatres, it is also proud of its Opéra Royal and the Philharmonic Orchestra which are both widely renowned. Designed for trade, Liège is provided with a congress hall, a fair and exhibition centre and, of course, with a large shopping area reserved for pedestrians. It has always been a city in a good mood, witness the countless, late closing cafés, the traditional Sunday market La Batte and the outrageous folklore puppet Tchantchès, symbol of that individualistic spirit and open-mindedness of the Liégeois.
